Bulk CMS Layout Assigner

Assign custom CMS page layouts to hundreds or thousands of Shopware 6 products at once — filter by category or tag and apply in a single click.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Eliminate hours of manual work by assigning CMS layouts to entire product groups in a single click
  • Reduce the risk of inconsistent storefront presentation across large catalogs
  • Empower merchandising and content teams to manage layouts without database access or developer assistance

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Managing a large product catalog in Shopware 6 becomes a serious bottleneck the moment you need to assign custom page layouts. By default, there is no native bulk edit option for CMS page layouts, which means store owners and catalog managers must open each product individually, select the desired layout, and save — one product at a time. For a catalog with hundreds or thousands of SKUs, this is simply not viable.

With the plugin

The Bulk CMS Layout Assigner plugin extends Shopware 6’s built-in product list view with a powerful group assignment workflow. Filter your products by category, tag, manufacturer, or any other available criterion, select the target group, and apply a CMS layout to all of them in a single action. An optional automation layer lets you define rules that assign layouts automatically based on product properties — so new products are covered from the moment they are created.

How it would work

  1. Filter Your Products

Navigate to the product list in the Shopware 6 Administration. Use the standard filter panel to narrow your selection by category, tag, manufacturer, or any other product attribute. The plugin works entirely within the existing interface, so no context switching is required.

  2. Select and Assign

Select all filtered products using the bulk selection checkbox, then choose "Assign CMS Layout" from the bulk edit action menu. A modal will appear listing all available layouts. Select your target layout, optionally run a dry-run preview, and confirm. The plugin updates the cms_page_id for every selected product through the Shopware API — no direct database access required.

  3. Automate for Future Products

Open the plugin's automation rules section under Settings. Define one or more rules — for example, "assign layout X to all products in category Y" — and activate them. From that point forward, any new or updated product matching the rule criteria will receive the correct layout automatically, keeping your catalog consistent without ongoing manual effort.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Does this plugin modify the database schema?

No. The plugin uses Shopware's native API to update the existing cms_page_id column on the product table. No custom tables or schema changes are introduced, and the plugin is fully compatible with future Shopware updates.

Can I assign different layouts to different product groups in the same session?

Yes. You can apply separate filter sets and layout assignments in sequence. Each assignment action is independent, so you can assign layout A to one product group and layout B to another without any conflict.

What happens if I want to revert a bulk assignment?

The assignment log records every bulk operation, including the previous layout IDs. You can use this log as a reference to restore previous assignments, either by running a reverse bulk action in the plugin or by working with our support team.

Is this plugin suitable for agencies managing multiple client stores?

Yes. The plugin is particularly well suited for agencies that set up or restructure Shopware 6 stores for clients. The automation rule builder is especially useful during catalog migrations, allowing layout assignments to be applied consistently at scale without manual intervention for each product.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
