Advanced Cart Rules & Surcharges

Extend Shopware 6 with automatic cart surcharges, minimum order enforcement, and dynamic cart messages — built for DACH market requirements.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Automate small-order surcharge logic and eliminate manual invoicing corrections for orders that fall below your value threshold
  • Enforce minimum order values directly in the cart, stopping non-qualifying orders before they reach checkout
  • Communicate clearly with customers through dynamic cart messages that explain why a surcharge applies or what is needed to qualify for free shipping

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Shopware 6’s native Rule Builder is a powerful tool for defining customer and cart conditions — but it stops short of taking action. It cannot automatically apply surcharges, block orders below a minimum value, or display dynamic messages to customers in the cart. For online shops operating in DACH markets, where small-order surcharges (Mindermengenzuschlag) and minimum order values are standard commercial practice, this gap creates a real operational problem.

With the plugin

This extension closes that gap. The Advanced Cart Rules & Surcharges plugin builds directly on top of Shopware 6’s existing Rule Builder infrastructure, adding a fully configurable action layer. Define conditions visually in the Shopware administration — and attach real consequences to them, including automatic fee additions, order blocking, and cart-level messaging — all without writing a single line of code.

How it would work

  1. Define Your Conditions

Open the Cart Rules section in your Shopware 6 administration panel. Use the familiar Rule Builder interface to set your conditions — for example, "cart value is less than €20" or "customer group is Wholesale". You can combine multiple conditions using AND/OR logic, exactly as you would with native Shopware rules.

  2. Attach Actions

Once your condition is defined, select one or more actions to execute when the rule matches. Choose from adding a fixed or percentage surcharge, blocking the order from proceeding to checkout, displaying a custom cart message, or any combination of the three. Each action is independently configurable — set the surcharge amount, the message text, and the blocking behaviour separately.

  3. Activate and Monitor

Activate the rule and it immediately takes effect in your storefront. Customers meeting the defined conditions will see the surcharge applied as a labelled line item in their cart, receive the configured message, or be prevented from checking out — depending on which actions you have enabled. Rules can be deactivated or adjusted at any time without affecting other store functionality.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Does this plugin replace the native Shopware Rule Builder?

No — it extends it. The plugin adds an action layer on top of Shopware 6's existing Rule Builder, so all conditions you are already familiar with continue to work exactly as before. You gain the ability to attach consequences to those conditions without losing any existing functionality.

Can I apply a Mindermengenzuschlag only to specific customer groups?

Yes. Because the plugin uses Shopware 6's native condition system, you can combine any supported conditions — including customer group, sales channel, shipping country, and cart value — to create highly targeted rules. A small-order surcharge can be applied exclusively to B2C customers while being waived for wholesale accounts, for example.

How is the surcharge displayed on invoices and order documents?

Surcharges are added as clearly labelled line items in the cart and are carried through to all Shopware 6 order documents, including invoices. The line item label is configurable, so you can display it exactly as your accounting requirements demand — for instance, as "Mindermengenzuschlag" or "Small Order Fee".

Can the cart message text be customised per language?

Yes. Cart message texts are managed through Shopware 6's standard snippet system, which means you can provide translations for each language active in your storefront — important for shops serving German, Austrian, and Swiss markets simultaneously.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.

All features

  • Automatic surcharge addition – apply a fixed or percentage-based fee when cart conditions are met (e.g., cart value below €20 triggers a €5 Mindermengenzuschlag)
  • Minimum order value enforcement – block checkout progression when the cart total falls below a configurable threshold, with a clear reason displayed to the customer
  • Dynamic cart messages – show condition-triggered text messages inside the cart, informing customers about active rules and how to avoid additional charges
  • Native Rule Builder integration – conditions are defined using Shopware 6's existing rule condition UI, including cart value, customer group, shipping country, and more
  • Multiple actions per rule – combine surcharge addition, order blocking, and messaging within a single rule definition
  • Sales channel scope – rules can be restricted to specific sales channels, allowing different policies for B2B and B2C storefronts
  • Surcharge line-item labelling – added surcharges appear as clearly labelled line items in the cart and on invoices, ensuring transparency and accounting compliance
  • No-code administration interface – all rules and actions are configured entirely within the Shopware 6 admin panel
