In short
- Create new document types in minutes without writing or deploying custom code
- Eliminate dependency on developers for routine document management tasks
- Accelerate B2B sales workflows by generating professional quotes and proforma invoices directly from the order view
Why this extension
Without the plugin
Creating a new document type in Shopware 6 — such as a quote, proforma invoice, or custom order confirmation — requires deep developer knowledge, manual XML configuration, and a working understanding of the document renderer service. For most B2B merchants, this level of complexity is a significant barrier. The official Shopware documentation on custom document types has long been incomplete, leaving even experienced developers with broken renderer errors and empty outputs.
With the plugin
The Custom Document Type Manager plugin eliminates this complexity entirely. It provides a no-code interface inside the Shopware 6 administration panel that lets you define, configure, and deploy new document types in minutes. Whether you need to generate sales quotations, proforma invoices, or bespoke confirmation documents, this extension gives you full control without touching a single line of code. Pre-built Twig templates for the most common B2B document types are included, and a flexible template editor lets you create custom layouts for any additional requirements.
How it would work
- Define Your Document Type
Navigate to the Documents section in the Shopware 6 administration panel. Use the built-in form to name your new document type, assign a technical identifier, and select a base template — either one of the included presets or a blank Twig layout.
- Customize the Template
Edit the Twig template directly inside the admin UI. Use all standard Shopware document variables — order data, customer details, line items, totals, and custom fields — to build exactly the document your business requires. Changes are previewed before saving.
- Generate Documents from Orders
Once a document type is active, it becomes available in the document generation dropdown on every order detail page. Staff can generate, download, and send the document to customers without leaving the administration panel. All generated documents are stored and accessible in the order's document history.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a ready plugin I can buy?
No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.
Do I need developer access or server console access to use this plugin?
No. Once the plugin is installed, all document type configuration and template management is handled entirely through the Shopware 6 administration panel. No CLI access, no code editing, and no manual XML changes are required.
Does this plugin fix the renderer error that occurs with Shopware's native custom document setup?
Yes. The plugin includes a correctly configured document renderer service registration, which resolves the known issue with Shopware's services.xml setup described in the official documentation. The renderer works reliably out of the box on Shopware 6.5, 6.6, and 6.7.
Can I create multiple custom document types?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of custom document types you can create. Each type has its own template, number sequence, and configuration, and all are available independently in the order document generation workflow.
Are the included templates customizable?
Fully. All pre-built templates — including the quote, proforma invoice, and order confirmation layouts — can be edited freely using the integrated Twig editor. You can adapt them to match your branding, add custom fields, or restructure the layout entirely.
Which Shopware versions are supported?
We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.
How long does it take?
Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
