Custom Fields Checkout Saver

Automatically save custom fields to Shopware 6 orders during checkout — no coding required. Define fields in the admin panel and capture them instantly.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Eliminate the need to write custom Subscribers or Controllers just to save checkout field data
  • Capture every custom field value reliably — no more empty order.customFields after order placement
  • Save development hours by replacing error-prone boilerplate code with a ready-made integration

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Adding custom fields to orders in Shopware 6 is straightforward — until you reach the checkout. By default, custom fields displayed in the checkout form are not automatically persisted to the order entity, leaving order.customFields empty after the order is placed. Fixing this natively requires writing custom EventSubscribers and Controllers, a process that is time-consuming and frequently causes server errors in current Shopware versions.

With the plugin

The Custom Fields Checkout Saver extension eliminates this gap entirely. It provides a zero-code solution for capturing and persisting any custom field value entered during checkout directly to the order record in Shopware 6 — fully integrated with Shopware’s native custom fields mechanism, no programming knowledge required.

How it would work

  1. Define Your Fields

In the Shopware 6 admin panel, navigate to the plugin settings and select which existing custom fields (assigned to the Order entity) should be captured during checkout. No code changes are needed.

  2. Display Fields in the Checkout

Use your existing Twig templates to render the custom field inputs in the checkout — for example, inside the page_checkout_confirm_tos_additional block. The plugin automatically detects the configured field names in the submitted POST data.

  3. Fields Are Saved Automatically

When the customer places the order, the plugin intercepts the checkout event and writes all configured field values directly to order.customFields. The data is immediately available in the order detail view and via the Shopware 6 API — no additional steps required.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Do I need programming knowledge to use this plugin?

No. All field configuration is handled through the Shopware 6 admin panel. You do not need to write any PHP, create Subscribers, or modify routing files. Basic Twig knowledge is useful if you want to customise how fields are displayed in the checkout template, but is not required for the saving functionality.

Will this plugin conflict with my existing custom fields setup?

No. The plugin works with custom fields you have already created and assigned to the Order entity in Shopware 6. It does not modify or replace existing field definitions — it simply ensures their values are captured and persisted during checkout.

How is this different from writing my own EventSubscriber?

A custom EventSubscriber requires PHP development, correct service registration, and careful handling of the checkout request lifecycle — mistakes at any step can cause 500 errors, especially after Shopware updates. This plugin provides a pre-built, tested automation that handles all of this internally and is maintained to stay compatible with current Shopware 6 releases.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
