Custom Product Dimensions Input

Let customers enter custom dimensions directly on the product page in Shopware 6. Values pass to the cart and appear in every order — perfect for made-to-measure products.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Eliminate order errors caused by missing or misinterpreted dimension information
  • Reduce back-and-forth communication with customers by collecting all measurements upfront at the point of purchase
  • Speed up order processing and production handoff — dimensions appear directly in the order view without manual data transfer

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Shops selling made-to-measure products — furniture, curtains, blinds, building materials, or custom signage — face a recurring challenge in Shopware 6: the standard product page has no built-in way to collect customer-specified dimensions. Without a structured input mechanism, merchants rely on order notes, follow-up emails, or manual corrections, all of which slow down fulfillment and introduce costly errors.

With the plugin

This plugin adds configurable dimension input fields — such as width, height, and depth — directly to the Shopware 6 product detail page. Values entered by the customer are automatically attached to the line item payload, carried through to the shopping cart, and stored visibly in every order. Shop administrators can configure field labels, units of measurement, and optional validation rules — all from the Shopware administration panel, without touching a single line of code.

How it would work

  1. Configure Fields in the Admin Panel

After installation, navigate to the plugin settings inside the Shopware 6 administration. Define the dimension fields you need — set the label (e.g., "Width"), the unit (e.g., "cm"), whether the field is required, and any min/max validation constraints. No coding is required.

  2. Assign Fields to Products or Categories

Enable the dimension input group for individual products or entire product categories. Only the relevant product pages display the dimension inputs, keeping your storefront clean for products that do not require custom measurements.

  3. Customer Enters Dimensions and Adds to Cart

On the product detail page, customers see the configured input fields above or below the add-to-cart button. They enter their measurements, and when the product is added to the cart, the dimension values are automatically attached to the line item. The values appear in the cart summary, order confirmation, and the order detail view in the Shopware 6 backend — ready for your production or fulfillment team.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Can I add more than three dimension fields?

Yes. The plugin supports an unlimited number of configurable input fields. You can define width, height, depth, and any additional custom fields your products require, each with its own label, unit, and validation settings.

Do the dimension values appear in order confirmation emails?

Yes. Dimension values entered by the customer are stored in the line item data and are included in order confirmation emails sent to both the customer and the merchant, as well as in the Shopware 6 order detail view in the admin panel.

Is this compatible with Shopware's native Custom Products plugin?

This plugin is an independent extension and does not require Shopware's Commercial Custom Products plugin. It integrates directly with the Shopware 6 cart and line item payload using native extension points, making it a lightweight and self-contained solution.

Can the dimension fields be made mandatory?

Yes. Each field can be individually set as required or optional. If a required field is left empty, the customer receives a clear validation message and cannot add the product to the cart until all mandatory dimensions are provided.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
