Dynamic Price Calculator by Dimensions

Add width, depth, and height inputs to Shopware 6 product pages and calculate prices dynamically in real time — based on your own pricing formulas and thresholds.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Eliminate thousands of unnecessary product variants by supporting continuous numeric input values for any dimension
  • Increase conversion by showing customers an accurate price instantly — without waiting for a page reload or contacting sales
  • Reduce order errors by capturing exact dimensions at the product page and carrying them through to the cart and order record

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Shopware 6’s built-in variant system works well for discrete product options — colors, sizes, materials — but it was never designed for continuous numeric values like dimensions. If your store sells made-to-measure goods, custom-cut materials, or any product priced by area or volume, the standard variant approach quickly becomes unmanageable: you would need thousands of variant combinations just to cover a realistic range of widths, depths, and heights.

With the plugin

The Dynamic Price Calculator extension solves this directly. It adds configurable numeric input fields — such as width, depth, and height — to your Shopware 6 product detail pages and recalculates the final price in real time as the customer types, with no page reload. Pricing formulas (for example, price per mm²) and tiered price thresholds are defined in the Shopware administration panel, giving merchants full control without touching a single line of code. Dimension values are passed cleanly into the cart and stored on the order line item, ensuring accurate pricing flows through the entire order process.

How it would work

  1. Define Your Input Fields

In the Shopware 6 administration panel, navigate to the plugin configuration and add the numeric fields you need for each product or product category — for example, width, depth, and height. Set the allowed range and step increment for each field to prevent invalid entries.

  2. Set Your Pricing Formula

Define the formula that maps dimension values to a final price. You can set a base rate (such as price per mm²) and configure tiered thresholds so that, for example, larger surface areas automatically receive a volume discount rate. All formula logic is managed in the administration panel — no code changes are needed after initial installation.

  3. Customer Enters Dimensions

On the product detail page, customers see the input fields alongside the standard product information. As they type their required dimensions, the Storefront JavaScript Plugin queries the Storefront API and updates the displayed price in real time. The customer sees the exact price before adding the product to the cart.

  4. Dimensions Flow Into the Order

When the customer adds the product to the cart, the entered dimensions are attached to the line item via the decorated ProductLineItem. The values remain visible throughout the checkout process and are stored on the completed order, ensuring your fulfillment team has all the information they need.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Do I need developer skills to configure pricing formulas?

No. Pricing formulas and tiered thresholds are configured entirely within the Shopware 6 administration panel using a structured input interface. Technical knowledge is only required during the initial installation, which our team handles for you.

Can I apply different dimension fields and formulas to different products?

Yes. Input fields and pricing formulas can be configured per product or applied to an entire product category, giving you full flexibility across your catalog.

Are the entered dimensions visible on the order in the administration panel?

Yes. Dimension values are stored on the order line item via the decorated ProductLineItem and are visible in the Shopware 6 order management view, as well as in any e-commerce integrations that consume order data.

Does this plugin work with custom or third-party Shopware themes?

The plugin is built on the standard Shopware 6 Storefront JavaScript Plugin architecture and does not override core templates. It is designed to be compatible with custom themes; minor CSS adjustments may be needed to match your theme's styling for the input fields.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.

All features

  • Add unlimited custom numeric input fields per product (e.g. width, depth, height, diameter)
  • Set minimum, maximum, and step values for each input field to enforce valid dimension ranges
  • Display configurable labels and unit indicators (mm, cm, m) directly alongside each input
  • Define formula-based pricing rules in the administration panel (e.g. base price × width × height ÷ 1,000,000 for price per mm²)
  • Configure tiered price thresholds so different dimension ranges apply different per-unit rates automatically
  • Real-time price recalculation via Storefront JavaScript Plugin communicating with the Shopware 6 Storefront API – no page reload required
  • Passes custom dimension values to the cart by decorating the ProductLineItem – dimensions are stored on the order and visible in the administration panel
  • Compatible with standard Shopware 6 checkout, order management, and e-commerce automation integrations
