Flow Builder Delay & Wait Actions

Add delay and wait actions to Shopware 6 Flow Builder. Automate post-purchase sequences and marketing flows with fixed or dynamic time-based triggers.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Build multi-step automation sequences in Flow Builder without external tools or additional SaaS subscriptions
  • Retain full control over timing logic inside Shopware, reducing integration points and potential failure modes
  • Deliver better post-purchase experiences through precisely timed follow-ups, review requests, and loyalty triggers

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Shopware 6 Flow Builder is a powerful automation engine — but without a native delay or wait action, building time-sensitive sequences quickly hits a wall. Whether you need to send a follow-up email two days after an order, trigger a loyalty reward one week after delivery, or space out a series of post-purchase touchpoints, the platform’s standard plan leaves you without the tool to do it. Workarounds involving external automation platforms add cost, complexity, and fragile integrations that break with every Shopware update.

With the plugin

This plugin extends Shopware 6 Flow Builder with a fully integrated Delay and Wait action, enabling you to pause flow execution for a defined period before continuing to the next step. It supports both fixed delays (e.g., wait 48 hours) and dynamic delays (e.g., wait 7 days after order placement), giving agencies and store operators the building blocks for sophisticated marketing and post-sale automation sequences — entirely within Shopware, without relying on third-party services. The plugin is built to handle Shopware’s serialization layer correctly, ensuring reliable execution across Shopware 6.5, 6.6, and 6.7.

How it would work

  1. Add a Delay Action to Your Flow

Open any existing flow in Shopware 6 Flow Builder or create a new one. The Delay action appears alongside all standard actions in the action picker. Drag it into position between any two steps in your sequence.

  2. Configure the Wait Period

Choose between a fixed delay (e.g., wait exactly 72 hours) or a dynamic delay calculated relative to a trigger event timestamp (e.g., 5 days after the order was placed). Set the unit — minutes, hours, or days — and save the flow.

  3. Flow Execution Pauses and Resumes Automatically

When a flow reaches the Delay action, the remaining steps are scheduled via Shopware's message queue. Once the wait period elapses, the flow resumes exactly where it paused and executes all subsequent actions in order — emails, tag assignments, status updates, or any other configured steps. No manual intervention is required.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Does this plugin have the serialization issue found in other delay plugins on Shopware 6.7?

No. This plugin was developed with Shopware 6.7's serialization layer in mind and handles queued flow state correctly. Reliable execution after the wait period is a core design requirement, not an afterthought.

Does the delay action affect storefront performance?

No. All delayed execution is handled asynchronously through Shopware's built-in message queue (Symfony Messenger). The storefront request cycle is never blocked by a waiting flow.

Can I use dynamic delays based on order or customer data?

Yes. The dynamic delay mode lets you calculate the wait period relative to a trigger event timestamp — for example, seven days after an order is placed or two hours after a subscription renews. This makes it straightforward to build time-aware post-purchase and re-engagement automations.

Is the Delay action compatible with all existing Flow Builder triggers and actions?

Yes. The Delay action is designed as a generic intermediate step and works with all standard Shopware 6 Flow Builder triggers and actions, as well as custom triggers and actions added by other extensions.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.

All features

  • Native "Delay / Wait" action block fully integrated into the Shopware 6 Flow Builder UI – no separate interface required
  • Fixed delay mode – pause flow execution for a specified number of minutes, hours, or days
  • Dynamic delay mode – calculate wait time relative to a flow trigger event (e.g., X days after order placed, X hours after payment confirmed)
  • Correct serialization handling for Shopware 6.7.x, ensuring flows resume reliably after the wait period
  • Queue-based execution – delayed steps are processed asynchronously via Shopware's message queue, with no impact on storefront performance
  • Configurable fallback behaviour if a queued delay job fails – choose between retry, skip, or alert
  • Full compatibility with all standard and custom Flow Builder triggers and subsequent actions
  • Detailed flow execution logs showing delay start time, scheduled resume time, and completion status
