Formula-Based Shipping Cost Calculator
Define custom mathematical formulas for shipping costs in Shopware 6. Calculate rates by weight, dimensions, or cart value — no coding or price tiers required.
The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.
In short
- Eliminate manual price-tier maintenance by replacing static tables with a single reusable formula
- Reduce configuration time for new shipping methods from hours to minutes
- Empower non-technical administrators to define and update shipping logic without developer involvement
Why this extension
Without the plugin
Shopware 6 ships with a tier-based pricing model for delivery costs, which forces store administrators to manually define dozens of price brackets just to achieve what a simple formula like "kilograms × price per kilogram" would express instantly. For shops with variable shipment weights, mixed product dimensions, or complex logistics pricing, maintaining those tables quickly becomes unsustainable. This was a capability Shopware 5 handled natively — and its absence in Shopware 6 has pushed many merchants toward overly technical workarounds that require TWIG template knowledge to configure.
With the plugin
The Formula Shipping Calculator plugin brings intuitive, expression-based shipping cost calculation directly into Shopware 6’s shipping module. Store administrators can enter natural mathematical formulas using cart variables such as weight, item count, dimensions, and cart value — and assign different formulas to different shipping methods through the native Rule Builder. No programming knowledge is needed, and no external service or complex template syntax is required.
How it would work
- Open Shipping Method Settings
Navigate to your Shopware 6 administration panel and open any existing shipping method or create a new one. The plugin adds a dedicated formula input field directly within the standard shipping cost configuration area — no separate menu is needed.
- Enter Your Formula
Type your pricing expression using plain mathematical notation. For example, entering weight * 1.20 calculates a rate of €1.20 per kilogram, while a formula like (weight * 0.85) + (quantity * 0.10) blends weight and item-count pricing. The interface validates your formula in real time and shows a preview calculation before you save.
- Assign Rules via Rule Builder
Attach Shopware 6 Rule Builder conditions to each formula-based shipping method as you would with any standard method. This lets you apply different formulas for domestic versus international orders, specific customer groups, or weight thresholds — all without duplicating configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a ready plugin I can buy?
No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.
Do I need coding or TWIG knowledge to use this plugin?
No. The formula editor uses plain mathematical notation that any store administrator can learn in minutes. No TWIG templates, PHP, or developer access is required to create or modify shipping formulas.
Which cart variables can I use inside a formula?
The plugin provides built-in variables for total cart weight, total item quantity, cart subtotal, individual item dimensions, and calculated volumetric weight. Full variable reference documentation is included with the plugin.
Can I use multiple formulas for different shipping methods or regions?
Yes. Each shipping method in Shopware 6 can have its own independent formula. By combining this with Rule Builder conditions, you can apply entirely different pricing algorithms based on delivery country, customer group, cart value, or any other supported condition.
Which Shopware versions are supported?
We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.
How long does it take?
Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
