Variant Group Enforcer
Enforce precise variant display in Shopware 6 dynamic product groups. Show exactly the variant you chose — in sliders and listings — without altering global product settings.
The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.
In short
- Display exactly the variant you selected — not the main product — in every dynamic product group, slider, and listing
- Maintain full control over variant presentation without altering global storefront presentation settings for any product
- Reduce merchandising errors caused by Shopware's default override behaviour, saving your team time and corrections
Why this extension
Without the plugin
In Shopware 6, dynamic product groups are a powerful way to curate sliders and listings — but there is a frustrating limitation: when a store administrator explicitly selects a specific product variant to appear in a group, the storefront presentation setting of the parent product overrides that selection. The result is that the main product is displayed instead of the chosen variant, making it impossible to promote a precise colour, size, or configuration without changing global product behaviour.
With the plugin
The Variant Group Enforcer plugin resolves this conflict by injecting a dedicated variant resolution layer into Shopware 6’s listing and slider rendering pipeline. It intercepts the display logic at the point where dynamic product groups are evaluated and ensures that the admin’s explicit variant selection is always honoured — independently of the product’s storefront presentation setting. This gives merchandising teams and agencies granular control over what customers actually see, without side effects elsewhere in the store.
How it would work
- Select Your Variants in the Dynamic Product Group
Use the standard Shopware 6 dynamic product group editor to add specific variants — not the parent product — to your group. No additional configuration is required at this stage; the plugin detects explicit variant selections automatically.
- Preview the Resolved Variant
Open the plugin's preview panel within the Shopware 6 administration. For each entry in your dynamic product group, the panel displays exactly which variant will be rendered in the storefront — giving you certainty before any changes go live.
- Publish and Verify
Once the group is saved and published, the plugin's variant resolution layer intercepts all relevant listing and slider render calls. It replaces the default storefront presentation logic with your explicit selection, so customers see the correct variant immediately — in every placement where that dynamic product group is used.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a ready plugin I can buy?
No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.
Will this plugin affect product display outside of dynamic product groups?
No. The variant enforcement logic is scoped exclusively to dynamic product group contexts — including sliders and listings that use them. All other areas of your store, such as category pages using standard sorting or individual product detail pages, are completely unaffected.
Do I need to change the storefront presentation setting on my products?
No. That is precisely the problem this plugin solves. Your products can remain on any storefront presentation setting ("collapsed", "expanded", or any other), and the plugin will still enforce the variant you selected in the dynamic product group — without requiring any global product changes.
Can the plugin be customised for complex variant resolution rules?
Yes. For agencies or stores with advanced requirements — such as fallback rules when a selected variant is out of stock, or integration with custom property sets — the plugin exposes configuration options and documented extension points that developers can use to tailor the resolution logic to their specific needs.
Which Shopware versions are supported?
We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.
How long does it take?
Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
