Variant Price Availability Filter

Filter unavailable variants from ‘Prices from X’ listings in Shopware 6. Ensure price accuracy, reduce legal risk, and improve the customer experience.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Eliminate misleading "Prices from X" labels caused by unavailable or hidden variants
  • Reduce legal exposure under German price-labelling regulations (Preiskennzeichnung) and comparable EU consumer law
  • Increase conversion by ensuring customers who click through from a listing actually find the advertised price

Why this extension

Without the plugin

In Shopware 6, product listings display a "Prices from X" label calculated from the lowest available variant price. By default, however, this aggregation does not account for whether the cheapest variant is actually purchasable — it may be out of stock, hidden, or flagged as a clearance item. The result is a misleading price label that draws customers in, only for them to discover the advertised price is not available when they open the product page.

With the plugin

This extension solves the problem by letting you define precise availability conditions that determine whether a variant is eligible to be included in the lowest-price calculation. Unavailable variants are excluded before the aggregation runs, so the "Prices from X" label in your listings always reflects a price a customer can actually pay. This is especially critical for stores operating in Germany, where the Preiskennzeichnungsverordnung imposes strict requirements on how prices are communicated to consumers.

How it would work

  1. Define Availability Rules

In the Shopware 6 administration panel, open the plugin settings and configure which conditions mark a variant as unavailable for price aggregation. Supported conditions include stock level thresholds, variant active/inactive state, visibility settings, and custom clearance flags.

  2. Aggregation Runs on Filtered Variants Only

When Shopware 6 calculates the lowest price for a product listing, the plugin intercepts the aggregation query and applies your configured availability filters. Only variants that pass all conditions are considered, ensuring the resulting "Prices from X" label is backed by a price that can actually be added to the cart.

  3. Storefront Displays Accurate Pricing

The filtered price is passed to the Shopware 6 storefront without any changes to your theme or templates. Listing cards, category pages, and search results all show the corrected label automatically. If no eligible variant exists, the fallback behaviour you defined in step one is applied.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Does this plugin affect the product detail page, or only listings?

The filter applies to the cheapest-price aggregation used on listing pages (category pages, search results, and similar surfaces). The product detail page behaviour — where customers interact directly with individual variant selectors — is not modified by this plugin.

What happens if every variant of a product is unavailable?

You can configure the fallback behaviour in the plugin settings. Options include hiding the price label entirely, displaying the lowest price without a "from" qualifier, or showing a custom placeholder text — whichever best fits your store's UX and legal requirements.

Is this plugin relevant outside Germany?

Yes. While the plugin was developed with German Preiskennzeichnung requirements in mind, accurate price labelling is relevant in any market where consumer protection law governs advertised prices, including Austria, Switzerland, and across the EU under the Omnibus Directive.

Can agencies customise the exclusion logic for client-specific needs?

Yes. The plugin exposes developer hooks that allow agencies to inject custom availability logic, for example integrating with third-party ERP stock feeds or bespoke clearance workflows, without modifying the plugin core.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.

All features

  • Configurable availability conditions – define which criteria (stock level, visibility flag, clearance status, active state) disqualify a variant from price aggregation
  • Seamless integration with Shopware 6's native cheapest-price aggregation pipeline – no storefront template overrides required
  • Per-sales-channel configuration – apply different availability rules to different storefronts or B2B portals
  • Fallback handling – when all variants are excluded, the listing either shows no price label or falls back to the next eligible price, configurable per store
  • Compatibility with Shopware's inherited stock and visibility settings at the variant level
  • Admin UI configuration panel – no code changes needed to adjust availability thresholds
  • Detailed developer hooks for agencies requiring custom exclusion logic beyond the built-in conditions
