Why this extension
Without the plugin
In Shopware 6, promotions that result in a zero-price discount are silently skipped by the promotion calculator and never appear as line items in the cart or on the order. This behavior makes it impossible to build free-gift promotions — a common B2B and B2C incentive — without adding dedicated products to your catalog and managing them separately. Shopware has acknowledged the limitation but assigned it a low priority, leaving agencies and merchants without a native solution.
With the plugin
This extension solves the problem directly. By decorating the native PromotionCalculator , it adds a configurable option at the promotion level that forces zero-value promotions to be written as visible line items in both the cart and the order — exactly as they behaved in Shopware 5. No catalog clutter, no workarounds, and no conflict with your existing promotion rules or automatic discount logic.
How it would work
- Install and Activate
Upload the plugin through the Shopware 6 Administration or deploy it via Composer. Activate it in the Plugin Manager — no database migrations or additional configuration steps are required at this stage.
- Configure Your Promotion
Open any promotion in the Shopware 6 Administration. A new checkbox — "Always show as cart line item, even at zero value" — appears in the promotion's general settings. Enable it for any promotion you want to display as a visible line item regardless of its calculated price.
- Test and Go Live
Add the promotion to a test cart. The zero-value line item will appear in the cart summary and be persisted to the order line items on checkout. Existing promotions without the option enabled continue to behave exactly as before.

Will this plugin affect my existing promotions?
No. The new behavior is opt-in on a per-promotion basis. Any promotion that does not have the "Always show as cart line item" option enabled will continue to work exactly as it did before installation.

No. The plugin uses Shopware 6's decorator pattern to extend the PromotionCalculator service. Core files are never modified, which means the plugin is safe to use across Shopware updates without manual re-patching.
Can I use this for coupon-code promotions as well as automatic promotions?
Yes. The option works with both coupon-code promotions and automatic promotions. For automatic promotions with zero value, enabling the option is recommended only when you specifically want the item to appear — for example, as a labeled free gift — since automatic discounts are typically hidden by design.
Is this suitable for agencies managing multiple Shopware 6 stores?
Yes. The plugin is designed with agencies in mind. A single codebase can be deployed across multiple client stores, and the per-promotion toggle means each client can independently decide which promotions appear as line items without any custom development per project.
