Language-Based Category Layout Manager

Assign separate CMS layouts to Shopware 6 categories per language. Present tailored content, promotions, and visuals for every market — no category duplication needed.

This is a concept, built for your shop

The description shows what such a plugin can do. We tailor the scope to your shop after a short needs analysis and usually deliver within a few days.

In short

  • Deliver fully differentiated category pages for each language without duplicating your category tree
  • Reduce content management overhead by centralising language-specific layout assignments in one place
  • Accelerate regional campaign rollouts by swapping layouts per language independently of other markets

Why this extension

Without the plugin

Running a multilingual Shopware 6 store means serving customers across different markets — each with their own language, promotions, and visual expectations. Out of the box, Shopware limits category layout assignment to a single global layout, applied identically to every language version of that category. For businesses operating across multiple regions, this forces an uncomfortable choice: settle for a one-size-fits-all appearance, or maintain a bloated, duplicated category tree that is difficult to manage and scale.

With the plugin

This extension solves the problem at its root. The Language-Based Category Layout Manager adds a dedicated language-to-layout mapping section directly inside the Shopware 6 category administration panel. You define which CMS layout should be used for each active language, and the plugin resolves the correct layout automatically at render time on the storefront. The result is a clean, maintainable category structure that can still deliver fully differentiated experiences — unique content blocks, region-specific promotions, and distinct visual hierarchies — for every language your store supports.

How it would work

  1. Open a Category in the Admin Panel

Navigate to any category in the Shopware 6 administration. The plugin adds a new "Language Layouts" section alongside the existing layout assignment field. This section lists all active languages configured for your sales channel.

  2. Map Each Language to a Layout

For each language you want to differentiate, select the desired CMS layout from a dropdown. Languages left unmapped automatically inherit the global default layout — so you only configure what needs to be different, keeping setup time low.

  3. The Storefront Resolves the Correct Layout Automatically

When a customer browses the storefront, the plugin intercepts the layout resolution process and checks whether a language-specific layout has been defined for the requested category. If one exists, it is rendered in place of the global default. No additional configuration, caching adjustments, or template overrides are required on your part.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a ready plugin I can buy?

No – it is a concept. We build it for your shop after a short needs analysis. Prices start at €100 and you get a fixed quote before we start.

Does this plugin work with all CMS layouts created in Shopping Experiences?

Yes. Any layout created in the Shopware 6 Shopping Experiences editor can be assigned to a language through this plugin, including custom and agency-built layouts.

What happens if I do not assign a layout for a specific language?

If no language-specific layout is mapped for a given language, the plugin falls back to the default layout assigned to the category — exactly as Shopware would behave natively. No content gaps or broken pages occur.

Can this plugin be combined with rule-based layout logic or the CMS Erweiterung plugin?

Yes. Language-based layout assignment operates at the category level, while rule-based block visibility operates at the block level. Both mechanisms can be used together without conflict, giving you maximum flexibility over what content is displayed and to whom.

Is this plugin suitable for agency use and client projects?

Absolutely. The plugin is designed with agencies in mind — the admin UI is intuitive enough for client-side content teams to manage independently after initial setup, reducing the need for ongoing developer involvement in day-to-day content operations.

Which Shopware versions are supported?

We build it for the version your shop runs: 6.5, 6.6 or 6.7. Updates for new Shopware versions are included as long as we stay in active contact.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–10 business days after the needs analysis, depending on the agreed scope.
